Local info
In Lofoten there are six municipalities. Røst, Værøy, Moskenes, Flakstad, Vestvågøy and Vågan. For more info about each municipality you can go to their website. For more on the region together, see the Lofotrådet website.
Waste
Do you wish to collect a large amount of garbage and waste? Or do you want to make the locals aware of an area that needs cleaning up?
Ally yourself with the local waste management companyIt is wise to talk to someone before you collect large amounts of garbage and waste in a deserted hard-to-get-to place. It might not be funds available to collect it right away - and if you don’t have a plan, the winds and waves will just spread the waste out again. If you find an overfilled waste bin, this is also the place to make contact.
At Clean Up Lofoten you can find the info you need for how to coordinate pickups and disposal of waste on your travels.
Hold Norge Rent is also worth checking out. It is a non-profit association that works with littering. Here you can find many useful tips and picking projects.
Toilet?
If you have to go, and want to do it along the road, we recommend you to check out the toilet map. That’s right, at cleanuplofoten.no/map you find your ultimate guide for toilets and waste bins.
