Lofoten Rangers was established in 2017. Our goal is to increase the consciousness around rules and norms for hiking and camping in the nature. Our main area is Lofoten, but the principles apply everywhere.
Lofoten is our key area of interest, as it is one of the places where tourism has increased tremendously the past few years. This has lead to an increased pressure on the nature. The beautiful nature you come to see, is in danger of being eroded if we don’t do better in taking care of it. We believe that the responsibility is shared, and that everyone who enjoys the adventure of Lofoten takes part in its future. In Norway, the Public Right of Access gives way to the freedom of enjoying the beauty of our commons. What it demands in return, is your awareness.
To be a Lofoten Ranger by heart, you acknowledge this responsibility - even though your visit here is temporary. It is completely voluntary, and we want you to take part. If you care about how you act when you enjoy the good of Lofoten, we’ve come a long way.
We hope that you who are reading this will move, hike, climb, drive, laugh and take photos in Lofoten with a slightly changed consciousness than before. Your awareness is all we ask.
